Dinner with my aunt at my favorite Somali restaurant, i phone call to a part of my heart once given, Nina Simone humming in the background, the deepening disarray of my beautiful country, a new lace bar- a day that started so simple and has me feel a all the emotions and now i cant sleep...
Somalia, my dear Somalia- i stare at the sky with white clouds, like our waving flag that doesn't wave anymore and i wonder when you'll say enough is enough. the sand of Mogadishu has drunk enough blood of lives taken, for causes not understood, for hate that's superficial, for an end that doesn't end. The camels have abandoned their owners, run to the mountains, hiding from the coward shelling fired from all corners. A child packed his blanket, walked out of your city, left a home that was a hell for a camp that will be even more desperate, to sit behind a barred fence and dream of a life better... somewhere far! That somewhere far i sit broken-heartened for a land that i vaguely remember, a history that i try to be proud of, a Diaspora that so fragmented, for the life of refuge that so hard and for a future that i cant plan without out you!
Somalia - when will you say enough is enough, is enough, its enough, Somalia enough is surely enough- its just enough!
